Kern River Rafting Trip (2023)

Description

The annual Kern River Rafting trip will be held on Memorial Day Weekend (May 27-29). We will arrive at the Sierra South rafting outfitters in Kernville early Saturday morning.  Packages are as follows:

Merit Badge Rafting (Full Day) – $250 – Includes lunch and a wetsuit

Class IV Rafting (Full Day) – $330 – Includes Lunch and a wetsuit

After rafting we travel up the river 30 min. to Camp Whitsett (a BSA camp in the Sequoia National Forest). We make camp and spend the afternoon working on scout skills. That evening we have a formal campfire at which we retire an American flag with an official ceremony. The next morning we go on a five mile hike and work on some more scout skills. We relax and enjoy the afternoon. A campfire that evening concludes the trip and we break camp early on Monday morning and head home. This is the first camping trip with our new scout patrols, and a great way for them to start off with Troop 355.  Plus, you get to witness the next Scoutmaster being sworn in.  Bring your fishing gear, as the lake at Whitsett is normally stocked.
