Thomas Ary’s Eagle Project

Dear Troop 355,
My name is Thomas Ary and I will be a senior at San Marino High School in the fall. I am currently a Life Scout with troop 355 and will be starting my Eagle Project on Saturday, July 8th and will maybe continue until July 9th. For my Eagle Project I will be stripping, re-finishing, and painting 5 toy boxes for the Nursery School within San Marino Community Church.
The project will be in two stages; The first stage, we will strip all the varnish and paint completely off all of the 5 boxes with sand paper. Two of the boxes are damaged and need to be repaired. Using furniture clamps and wood glue, we will repair the damaged area. When the wood glue dries, stage two will begin. Three of the four boxes are inside the building and will be stained with varnish. The remaining two boxes are outside and will be painted with two coats of red paint. The project is from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and what doesn’t get completed, the project will continue the following day until finished. Water and snacks will be provided as well as pizza for lunch. Bring clothes you don’t mind getting paint on, everything else will be provided. If you can only help for a few hours, that’s great. Hope to see you there!
