WHEN:
Saturday March 10 and Sunday March 11

MEALS:
Bring your own trail lunch Saturday, dinner will be provided Saturday night (Philmont style), bring your own breakfast bars, instant oatmeal, cocoa for breakfast.
Saturday’s dinner will be prepared by individual crews. Crews will be announced Tuesday night February 28 by email.
SPECIAL NOTES:
It might be cold (40 degrees) at night, be prepared with long johns and a beanie hat to sleep in, a good sleeping bag, a jacket and gloves. Of course always bring your rain gear! BE PREPARED. A number of first time backpackers brought car camping tents to our Cooper Canyon trip. Car camping tents are too heavy for this backpack trip. Purchase or rent a two person backpacking tent. REI or Sport Chalet are great places to get a backpacking tent.
Dr. Snaer is always available to discuss equipment. Call him at 626 840-7702 or email snaer@earthlink.net if you have any questions.
Fires will be allowed in the designated fire pits, as long as wind conditions are safe.
Any cars parking at Chantry will need a National Forest Adventure Pass available at your sporting goods store (REI, Sports Chalet). This is strictly enforced. As the free parking at Chantry Flat typically is full, we will arrange parking at the Chantry Flat Pack Station. Cost will be approximately $10 per car.
DIRECTIONS TO CHANTRY FLAT:
210 Freeway East to Santa Anita Avenue
North on Santa Anita Avenue
Santa Anita Avenue becomes Chantry Flat Road at the base of the foothills
Follow Chantry Flat road 2-3 miles until it ends in the parking lot at Chantry Flat
We will meet in the lower lot
