Ronald McDonald House

August 13, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Hello Troop 355!
My name is Matthew Yam and I am a rising senior at Harvard-Westlake high school. I will be carrying out my eagle project the weekend of August 12-13 at the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House, and I would greatly appreciate your help!
The Ronald McDonald House is a non-profit organization that houses families caring for sick children in need of hospital attention until the family can get back on their feet. Once families are ready to support themselves, a new family moves in.
My project will consist of improving the backyard by refinishing a wooden swing set and replanting planter boxes with fresh fruits and vegetables. We will also teach the kids how to grow and tend to their own plants. The motive here is to upgrade the backyard enough so that the kids will have incentive to play there. Right now, the children like to play in the driveway, and having them play in the backyard instead will take them out of harm’s way.
The Details:
Date and Time: Weekend of August 12 and 13, 9:00am-5:00pm both days.
Address: 763 S Pasadena Ave, Pasadena, CA 91105 (Pasadena Ronald McDonald House)
Materials: Closed-toed shoes, clothing you are not worried about getting a little paint on, hats, sunscreen safety goggles if you have them.
Lunch (In-n-out!), drinks, and refreshments will be provided.
Please text or email me if you are planning to come. Even if you don’t RSVP, feel free to come by to help out if you’ve got some spare time. This will be a great opportunity to serve your community, get your hours in, and get some words of wisdom from the older guys!
All the best,
Matthew Yam
