Matthew Haines’ Eagle Project
November 21, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Hello Troop 355,
I am excited to announce that my Eagle Project will take place next weekend, November 21-22. My beneficiary is the Pasadena Community Orchestra, a non-profit orchestra that provides free concerts in Pasadena. I originally came to them with an offer to scan their music, but they thought of something that would be more helpful to them. We will be scanning and digitizing their various files that they have amassed over the past decade, which include board meeting records, brochures from old concerts, grant requests, and tax files (I know, fun, right?) The project will be from 10:00 AM to 4:00PM on both days, or until we finish scanning. Volunteers can sign up for any time spot during this period. We will be in a Zoom meeting for the duration of the project (you will not need to have your camera on the whole time you are in the meeting). I will need about 10-15 volunteers, depending on how many hours people sign up for. Here is the sign up form. I will close it once enough people have signed up. (Also, you do NOT need a scanner for this project, as we will be using a smartphone app to scan the files.)
For those who sign up, this project will be similar to Jack Moffat’s Eagle project which took place a couple of months ago. I will be dropping the files to be scanned at volunteer’s houses during the afternoon on Friday, November 20th. I will then pick them up the following Monday (November 23). I will send further details about the project in an email to those who sign up.
Thank you to those who decide to sign up. The project will greatly benefit the PCO, which has provided the city of Pasadena with great free musical performances for decades. This is also a great opportunity to get service hours during the pandemic. Depending on the response, I may have to schedule a follow up weekend to finish up the project. Please reply if you have any questions.
Yours in Scouting,
Matthew Haines
