TROOP 355 ADVANCED BACKPACK TRIP
SEQUOIA NATIONAL FOREST
JENNIE LAKES WILDERNESS
WHEN: Friday, June 27 to Sunday, June 29, 2014
WHERE: This is a three day, two night backpack trip. We will complete the classic Jennie Lakes Loop. From the trailhead at Big Meadows in the Sequoia National Forest, we will hike 3.2 miles to Weaver Lake on Friday afternoon. On Saturday we will hike 8.7 miles, over JO Pass (9444’) and on to Jennie Lake. On Sunday we will complete the loop and hike 6.3 miles back to Big Meadows.
DIFFICULTY: The hike is 18.2 miles total. We will gain over 2500 feet of elevation, and will camp both nights at approximately 9000 feet.
AVAILABILITY: This is an advanced backpack trip. It is intended for our experienced backpackers – those who have hiked with us on multiple backpack trips in the past, and have done at least one intermediate or advanced backpack trip with the troop. COST: $20 per person. Deadline to confirm your spot is Monday night, June 2. Bring your check made out to BSA Troop 355 to the Troop Meeting, or mail or deliver to:

MEET: At Scout House at 7:00 AM on Friday, June 27. We will divide troop gear and food then depart for the trailhead. The trip to the trailhead is about 3.5-4 hours. We should complete the hike by midday Sunday, and be home by 5:00 or 6:00 p.m.
MEALS: We will provide Philmont-style dinners for Friday and Saturday evening. Bring your own trail breakfasts for Saturday and Sunday, and your own trail lunch for Saturday. Further information will be provided as we get closer to the trip.
Please Note: This trip is for advanced backpackers only. If you have not backpacked with Troop 355 before, or have only completed one of our beginning backpack trips, we suggest you join us next fall and spring for our introductory and intermediate backpacks.
