Glider Campout at Crystalaire Airport – Click for Details

October 16, 2016 @ 12:00 am

Ever wonder what it would be like to soar 7,000 feet above the desert and the San Gabriel Mountains, in a plane with no engine? This is your chance to find out!

We will travel to Crystalaire Airport in Llano, CA, to go soaring with the leading glider flight school in Southern California. We are scheduled to do glider rides all day Saturday and part of Sunday with the Southern California Soaring Academy. The airport has an adjacent campsite where we can camp on Saturday night. Scouts will have the opportunity to earn the Aviation Merit Badge in connection with this trip – we can work on the badge requirements when we are not gliding. We should depart San Marino by 6:30 a.m. on Saturday morning to arrive at Crystalaire by 8:00 a.m. We will glide all day Saturday, then finish up any remaining flights on Sunday morning.
