Carpentry Merit Badge
December 5, 2010 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
The Historic Centennial Carpentry Merit Badge has been brought back by BSA to celebrate the 100th aniversary of scouting in the United States.
Here is your chance to earn one of the four Historic Merit Badges offered only during the BSA Centennial celebration this year. Troop 355 will offer the Carpentry Merit Badge which was first offered in 1911 and discontinued in 1952. The class will be held at Dr. Snaer’s workshop on Sunday, December 5 from 9:00 to 4:00.
Directions to Dr Snaer’s house.. 2605 South Oak Knoll, San Marino
From Huntington Drive:
South on Granada
Left on Afton
Right on South Oak Knoll
2nd House on the right, 2605
626 840-7702
The cost is $15.00 per Scout and is due Friday, November 26. Make checks payable to “Troop 355” and mail to:
Ron Chase
1090 Medford Road
Pasadena, CA 91107
The cost includes all materials for a “Wii Accessory Tote” patterned from the “Tool Box” project in the 1928 Carpentry Merit Badge book. Lunch will be served! Can you imagine, a once in a lifetime chance to earn a Centennial Merit Badge, build and take home a masterpiece AND eat lunch. What a great value!
Here are a few important points:
No walk-ups: since I have to buy lumber for each Scout that participates, I need the payment in full by Friday, November 26
No late arrivals: you must arrive no later than 9:00 as the merit badge will take all day.
No partials: you must complete all requirements during the class.
We had outstanding interest when I announced this opportunity on Monday night. Attached is a list of Scouts that signed up. If you did not sign-up, there is room for you. Just send me an e-mail and then send me your check for $15.
Thank you,
Mr. Chase
