Austin Janisch’s Eagle Project – Click for Details
August 24, 2014 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
Hello Troop 355, My name is Austin Janisch Troop 355 SPL. I am conducting my Eagle Project at Earthside Nature Center in East Pasadena. Earthside was once a thriving California Native Plant Garden in the 70’s and 80’s showcasing over 500 species of Native plants. This award winning garden has since fallen into disrepair and desperately needs our help to thrive once again.
For my project, we will be constructing trails through the native plant garden connecting an existing Kiosk and Greenhouse as well as setting up areas for plants to be placed. We will be using decomposed granite and terrace boards to create the trails and designate planting areas. Most of the work will involve digging the pathways and filling them with decomposed granite. Scouts of all ages and tool skill level are welcome and encouraged to help. We will be working with brush and dirt so wear clothing you won’t mind getting dirty in as well as closed toed shoes. I also encourage you to bring your own gloves, safety glasses and shovels if you can. Lunch will be provided on all work dates. This is a big project and I appreciate your help in making it possible.
